Details:

The gui crashes at start-up in ubuntu with unity where appmenu-qt (a library
enabling the global menu bar for qt-applications) is not installed.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Remove appmenu-qt from the system
2. Start octave with gui
  -> The gui shows up with the menu bar in the main window
  -> The gui crashes
3. Reinstall appmenu-qt
4. Start octave with gui
   -> The gui starts as expected with a global menu bar

Texstudio, another qt-application, behaves as expected without any crash.

Can anyone confirm this?
