Thanks for the patch, it makes things much easier.  I applied it in this
changeset (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/53f1d5bb58bc).  I also
added you to the list of contributors to Octave.  I applied it to the
development branch so you won't see the change until the 3.8.0 release, or you
can build from Mercurial sources.
