Follow-up Comment #1:
You are probably looking at out-of-date instructions on how to build the
Octave GUI. The gui mercurial branch is no longer useful.
The GUI is now a part of the default mercurial branch. Please update to the
default branch (hg update default) and try building again. Feel free to
comment again on this bug or open another bug if you have compilation problems
once you are building the right development branch.
