Follow-up Comment #1:

Confirmed on dev. Marking as a feature request for now, since I'm not sure if
this ever worked in prior versions of Octave.

This would also allow functions defined in the interpreter to be edited and
turned into function files, since edit uses type to extract the body of the
function that it puts into a newly created m-file.
