Follow-up Comment #50, bug #40436 (project octave):

My vote earlier was to consider this a gcc bug, rather than an Octave bug.  It
seems that the problem exists only for 4.8.2, and neither the previous 4.8.1
nor the following 4.8.3 are affected.  As such, it is a burden to maintain
support for this very transitory bug.  I agree that it would be good to inform
users and abort compiling Octave, but fixing it ourselves seems like too much
work for a situation that is going to go away in just a few months.  Fedora 20
would be affected, but they release every 6 months and they may backport a
working gcc if there are enough other bug reports about it.
