Follow-up Comment #3, bug #41139 (project octave):

I would love to test this, but I must be honest, I am having difficulty
compiling Octave on my machine from the development sources. I have no
difficulty with the packaged source release on ftp.octave.org, so presumably
I'm getting tripped up on the bootstrapping. I'll let you know when I figure
it out (indeed this inspires a feature request...)
