Follow-up Comment #10, bug #41148 (project octave):

sockets requires -lws2_32, winsocks2.h, call of WSAStartup to initialize
winsockets.

the poll function is implemented as WSAPoll, but for some reason was having
link issues on my machine, and reportedly is broken.

read, write don't work for sockets.

Select is select in the winsock library.
