Thanks for suggestion regarding configure flags. wiill use those if/when i get
this built.

i have a clean install of 12.04 running in virtualbox.  got thru bootstrap &
configure stage.   I will submit patch to etc/HACKING for missing
dependencies.

getting an error running make.  i have tried a few times... always fails at
the same point.  seems to be a bash issue (after a bit of googling).  any
ideas?     i pulled from the dev branch a few hours ago.  are build failures
on dev branch expected?
