Details:
Z = rand(8,6,2);
interp2 (1:6, 1:8, Z, (2:2:6)', 2:2:8);
produces the same 2D result as with Z(:,:,1). However, it
should either give an error message (as in ML) or, similar to interp1, output
a corresponding 3D array.
