Follow-up Comment #5, bug #41224 (project octave):
No, the octave lexer is used when it is available (since qscintilla 2.6 or so,
not sure at the moment). When the snippet in comment #1 is changed such that
the matlab lexer is used you see the default fonts from qscintilla and not the
ones we have configured in the default settings file (there are no defaults
for matlab). Obviously the lexer does not handle the ! correctly.
Geany is another editor based on scintilla and shows the same behavior.
