Follow-up Comment #12, bug #41305 (project octave):
I could check that, for me, the failure is deterministic: by varying the
opt.tol parameter I could define the threshold tolerance t_tol for a
particular seed (137 on octave 3.6.4).
The probability of failure (computed over 100 trials) is either 0 with
"opt.tol = t_tol + eps/2" or 1 with "opt.tol = t_tol - eps/2".
