Follow-up Comment #3, bug #41337 (project octave):

I am facing the same problem here on a macbook, using the dmg from
octave-forge: none of the key sequences involving CTRL work (except CTRL+C/V
which is mapped to CMD+C/V). 

Retrieving history through up/down arrow keys doesn't work neither but this
may be another issue.
