Follow-up Comment #13, bug #40064 (project octave):
This bug report has been closed for several months. You might have better
luck asking your question on the help or maintainers mailing list. Overall,
your strategy seems fine. I have Mercurial and the Octave code repository
installed on my local machine so I usually use 'hg tags' to get the numeric ID
of a specific release and then compare that number to the changeset in
question. For example, release-3-8-0 has the numeric ID 18175. The changeset
that is relevant for this report has ID 17503 so it is almost certainly in the
3.8.0 release. Mercurial branches, however, can mess up this simple strategy.
