Follow-up Comment #1:

Confirmed on Windows XP (3.8.1) and Linux (Mageia-2 32b; 4.1.0+ and 3.8.0).

Tried a backtrace from 3.8.0, but got, apart from Muhali's uppercase messages,
only:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
#0 0x8b93?? ()
Backtrace stopped: Not enough registers or memory available to unwind further
