Follow-up Comment #3, bug #41888 (project octave):

I'm not interested in this change for myself and currently I don't have much
time for volunteer work for things that don't interest me.  So I see a couple
of options.  You could submit a patch for it yourself, or hire someone to do
it (me?) or wait for some other kind soul to make the change for you.
