It would be helpful if you could run Octave in gdb and provide a stacktrace. See http://wiki.octave.org/Debugging_Octave for information on debugging Octave. I'm assuming that Octave is the program that segfaulted, is that correct? Did the segfault message return you to the Octave prompt or to a shell prompt? Does the command "pkg list -forge" also cause Octave to segfault?
