Hello there, 

I am having the same issue than the thread starter. 

Java is supposed to be in the core of Octave 3.8.1. but when trying to call
any function I get:

>> javaclasspath
error: javaMethod: Octave was not compiled with Java interface

Do I have to set stuff before using it?

I have installed JDK 1.8.0 and Octave 3.8.1
