@Jordi: Thanks, now it makes sense. The idea of preparing an header file
doesn't seem so good anymore either. On the other hand, any caveat about
adding a method to check whether a sparse matrix is complex, if as I suspect
there isn't any method to do this?

@Carlo: ok, I agree with your idea. It should be possible to do it using some
preprocessor directives, as there is already a HAVE_ARPACK condition that can
be used (now I also see why).
