Follow-up Comment #6, bug #41490 (project octave):

I just tried this & the sequence in bug #42060 in a freshly built & installed
3.8.1 on WinXP (MXE-cross-built).

After clicking the print button on the gnuplot window, or the "Options|Save as
EMF" dialog, gnuplot freezes (Octave doesn't).
Then, after entering a "close" command in Octave, gnuplot revives and I get a
file dialog (this bug) or a few print dialogs (bug #42060).
As to printing, that's about it. No print ever appears, not even my default
print preview window.
As to saving an EMF file, that works for me.

But then it occurred to me to add the ghostscript \bin subdir to the PATH
(note to the OP: gs should be in a path w/o spaces).
Then after restarting Octave, printing worked OK as well.

The only glitch is that gnuplot freezes until -I suppose- the pipe to gnuplot
is terminated.

So I think this bug can be closed with a "works for me" or maybe even an
"invalid".

Note that Tatsuro mentioned a while ago that gnuplot in MXE has been built w/o
(IIRC:) wxt or cairo support (can't find his post). Could that be related?
