Update of bug #41965 (project octave):
Summary: __makeinfo__ assumes unsigned char for input text
when it should be signed char => fwrite casts negative char values into zero

Follow-up Comment #7:
The description of the problem here is wrong. It's not really about the
signedness of char, but it was about a bug in fwrite. I've changed the
description accordingly.
