Follow-up Comment #1:
Thanks for your bug report. This is the expected behavior. In debug mode, the
shell is intended to execute the previous command when pressing enter, to
mimic the way gdb works. This is to allow easier stepping with dbstep, for
example.
This is documented in the manual, see the last paragraph of
http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/doc/interpreter/Debug-Mode.html.
