Follow-up Comment #5, bug #42458 (project octave): GL2PS works by capturing the contents of the OpenGL feedback buffer (http://www.geuz.org/gl2ps/#tth_sEc5). My understanding is that this means the OpenGL figure must be rendered, and I assume that whether or not this happens depends upon the operating system, and/or window manager. If the virtual desktop is not rendered when it is not visible, then I don't think the print() command will function.
