Follow-up Comment #6, bug #42450 (project octave):
Tried the command you suggested - no difference.
I'm sure it's not nVidia's drivers now, as I am re-installing the drivers to
try and sort out another issue. Did a sudo apt-get purge nvidia* from root
shell (no X started), rebooted, and tried to run octave - same result,
segfault (note that this is before reinstalling nVidia drivers, so there are
none on the system).
