It would certainly make sense to distinguish read-only. Maybe, with

like <> ?

The deletion of  "screenpixelsperinch" is a reminder that the automatic 
generation
is the way to go.

Can you give a few hints about how to cause the
# octave ... to do the right thing?
is # octave recognized? or is some special handling of plot.txi
required?
