Follow-up Comment #3, bug #42763 (project octave):

Yes, that is correct.  I've also checked fir1 gives the correct results with
the latest development version of interp1.

When looking for the problem, I only searched backwards in the file history
when I should have looked forwards too!  The commit fixing the regression was
this one:

interp1.m: fix function for inputs w/multiple discontinuities (bug #41980).
