Details:

I'm currently using Ubuntu 14.04 and installed Octave.

Octave seems to work fine, however the plot function just crashes. I have the
octave, gnuplot and octave-plot installed. It tries to open a window for the
plot but immediately crashes. 

octave:3> plot(a)
/usr/bin/octave-cli: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/liboctinterp.so.2: undefined symbol:
FT_Reference_Face

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and I will respond to emails.
