Follow-up Comment #7, bug #43349 (project octave):

Ugh, the difference is that in the interpreter you are writing


sqrt (-3)


but in the C++ code we are computing


sqrt (1.0 - Complex (2, 0) * Complex (2, 0))


which is equivalent to


sqrt (Complex (-3, -0))


Oops.
