Details:

Octave GUI (experimental version) or Octave command line version freeze when a
plot command is excecuted. A plot window opens but nothing happens any more. 

After some seconds Octave crashes and both windows close. Windows reports and
unexpected termination of Octave. 

Changing to GNU plot could overcome the problems.
