Follow-up Comment #2, bug #43536 (project octave):

If someone wants to work on this, I recommend creating a function called
history_ignore that would provide functionality similar to the way the
HISTIGNORE variable works in bash.  That makes sense to me given that Octave's
history_control function is similar to the HISTCONTROL variable in bash.
