Follow-up Comment #4:

At first this looks bad, but I think this is mostly a performance hit.  The
duplicate points *shouldn't* affect the drawing of the contour, although I
can't guarantee that.

I took a look at __contour__.cc and the code is very old and I couldn't figure
out what was going on easily.
