Follow-up Comment #1, bug #43922 (project octave):

This bug also appears if one tries to rename a top folder (i.e. the folder
that contains the file/folder...) of the file. Octave GUI should just silently
adopt the new file path in the editor pane (i.e. in the case the file has
already been opened). This behavior would be on a par with Matlabs GUI.
