Follow-up Comment #4, bug #40251 (project octave):
I like having sensible defaults. It seems weird to me that it comes up with
neither mode, pan or rotate, selected. For 3-D, I think rotate is the natural
default. For 2-D, I would make the default pan.
Maybe need to ask on the Octave-Maintainers list for someone with Matlab to
verify what they do for defaults (not that we have to copy them).
