Follow-up Comment #6, bug #43282 (project octave):

Hi,

I attached a changeset that involves a bit more than adding annotation.m:
* axes.m: ensure that the transparent annotation axes is always drawn on top
of the other axes.  
* clf.m: not only "clf reset" but also "clf" will delete the annotation axes
(this is compatible with Matlab).

If no one has arguments against the additional changes, I'll push the patch
soon.
