Thanks for your bug report. This is definitely an issue, and we will do
something about it for the upcoming release, either update configure to
automatically disable building docs if you don't have OSMesa, or fall back to
Gnuplot. See discussion on bug #36943 and bug #33180.

Can you say what the errors are when building with OSMesa < 9?
