Follow-up Comment #3:

The only information to stderr is that there has been a segmentation violation
(no details) and that Octave is trying to save the workspace.

gnuplot works fine.  Either FLTK or Qt will segfault eventually.  This
suggests either our OpenGL render code, or more likely, the gl2ps library.
