Follow-up Comment #4, bug #44329 (project octave): One problem is that if the .oct file (a symbolic link on Unixy systems) is removed but the stamp file remains, then the .oct file link won't be recreated. I'm not sure what the best fix is here. Simply use cp or install instead of ln -s and do away with the stamp file idea?
