Follow-up Comment #2, bug #44340 (project octave):
The error message clearly shows that you have a script file in your Octave
load path /home/clyde/octave/filter.m. This is overriding the function file
filter.m provided by Octave. Please remove or rename your script file to not
conflict with Octave names and try again.
