Follow-up Comment #18, bug #44116 (project octave):

Michael, I wonder why plotting works for you. 

Does following command return 0 for you?


octave:2> __octave_link_enabled__ 
ans = 0


Could you also try command 'uigetfile' ?


octave:1> uigetfile
warning: uigetfile: no implementation for toolkit 'qt', using 'fltk' instead
warning: called from
    __get_funcname__ at line 36 column 7
    uigetfile at line 179 column 14

ans = 0


It opens the fltk window in my case.
