Follow-up Comment #1, bug #44380 (project octave):
Are you talking about 64-bit Windows and 64-bit Linux? Along with the 64-bit
compilation of the software? 32-bit accesses somewhere around 3.8 GB and with
the OS using some of that memory could leave only 3 GB to work with. And
perhaps the 32-bit libraries impose some additional limitations, so even if
you have a 64-bit OS, a 32-bit app might have limitations.
