Dear Avinoam (is that your first name?), I really should invite you to the
(tiny) team of testers for the io package :-)
As to:
Examples: I dreamt of having a few more, but never bothered. I'll either come
up with another, or remove the 's' in io-2.2.8
.xlsx : no, xlswrite can write .xls as well (provided support SW is present).
It can even write .wk1, .uof, etc. (see the NEWS for older io versions),
depending of support SW
As to the changeset, better put it up on the patch tracker.
