Follow-up Comment #12, bug #44478 (project octave):

I am running Ubuntu 14.10 64 bit with shipped OSMesa 10.5.0
I am using nvidia driver 331
The problem is still there.
As of indication of Andy Weber I tested the following mesa_demos


git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/mesa/demos mesa_demos
cd mesa_demos
./autogen.sh
./configure --enable-osmesa
make
cd src/osdemos
./osdemo32 test.tga
./osdemo16 test.tga
./osdemo test.tga


All tests produce a TGA image without problems.
