Follow-up Comment #38, bug #44007 (project octave): @comment #36: It seems that gnuwin32 tar [1] can do the job fine, although the binary dates back to 2003. ISTR that gnuwin32 binary utils were bundled with earlier Octave releases (3.2, 3.4 ?). So that looks to be the final solution.....
