Thanks Rik, I pushed this revised cset:

It fixes the issue in comment #3 so I am closing the bug report. FTR I also
noticed that the toolbar is deliberately removed when the canvas has any
uicontrol object. This seems odd to me but I'll leave it for another bug
report (or not, I'll test it in Matlab).
