Follow-up Comment #49, bug #44478 (project octave): Thanks for testing. I think Octave must be doing something wrong in the interaction with Qt and OpenGL. It sure looks like when we call glGetInterv we are sampling a random memory location. Sometimes this just gives garbage data, like 32,550.
