Follow-up Comment #30, bug #41061 (project octave):

Well, I am one of those who has complained a lot about
the API and other incompatibilities with llvm. But, there
is a very definite need to improve Octave performance.

So, giving up on llvm should only be done if something better
can be found. Right now llvm seems to be the "mainstream"
system -- it is a part of clang for instance.

Also, some of the benefits of JIT have not been realized.
The current implementation is incomplete.

It would be good if someone could be found to do more
work on it.
