Follow-up Comment #1:
If I had to guess, it's that gnuplot is now version 5 in Fedora 22, is that
correct?
Do the plots contain an entirely black background and your installed version
of gnuplot is 5.0 or newer? If so, then see bug #42838. Note that gnuplot is
still used for generating the plots for the manual because at least one of
them contains TeX markup which does not yet render correctly with gl2ps.
