Follow-up Comment #4, bug #45439 (project octave):
Octave installed from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/science/openSUSE_13.2
Now fullfile works correctly:
fullfile ('/home/username', 'data')
ans = /home/username/data
Yes, that error was because of including some paths:
>> which strjoin
'strjoin' is a function from the file
/opt/MATLAB/R2014a/toolbox/eeglab/plugins/Cleanline1.02/external/bcilab_partial/dependencies/PropertyGrid-2010-09-16-mod/strjoin.m
So you can close bug as invalid.
