Follow-up Comment #8, bug #45469 (project octave):

I followed your suggestion and have run the program several times in
qt-graphics mode. The maximum octave-gui's memory usage during execution did
not exceed 210 KB. There are never more than 4 plot windows simultaneously on
the screen, since those windows are closed after having saved the contents
with the saveas-command to jpg-files. Also the memory usage of other parallel
tasks was low. 

The program now has run without error with qt-graphics. It seems to be
unpredictable, when the reported error will occur. In rare cases the program
also crashes for no apparent reason.
