Follow-up Comment #17, bug #45488 (project octave):

@Michael: Yes, make the diff with respect to the latest tip from Mercurial.

Also, look at the open() command from within Octave.  This opens whatever file
you specify by trying to use the appropriate system resource.  In my case


open ("extended.pdf")


results in okular showing the plot.

If you do this then we don't have to hardcode a system command into the
documentation.
