Follow-up Comment #13, bug #41178 (project octave): If someone can attach a complete patch (or set of patches), I can handle the initial testing and push the result to the default branch (assuming I'm successful with building on Yosemite). The GUI problem is due to another problem. On Mac OS X it is necessary that the gui thread is the main thread. When running the gui, the fltk and qt toolkits are not part of the main thread.
